Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While you identify technology and sedentary lifestyles as causes, the discussion on the actual 'problems' caused by lack of sleep is missing; you focus on the causes of the lack of sleep rather than the consequences (e.g., health issues, productivity loss). The response is therefore only partially developed. To reach a higher band, ensure you explicitly address every part of the prompt with balanced detail.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'At last I want to conclude by writing that'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') is used more precisely to connect sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, but it is often repetitive or imprecise. Phrases like 'masses inform' and 'long tome effect' are unnatural. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'begore', 'tome', 'habbits') and minor collocation issues. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'sedentary' or 'physical activities', the overall control is limited. To improve, focus on learning collocations and refining your word choice to sound more academic and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'masses inform', 'does not do any exercise') and article usage. Some sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, such as the example provided with the survey. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly.
