Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention physical health and mental health, these points are not fully expanded upon with clear examples or logical depth. The structure is somewhat disjointed, and the focus shifts between causes and effects without a clear, cohesive argument. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your points are supported by specific, well-explained examples rather than just listing reasons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often difficult to follow. There is a lack of effective cohesive devices; transitions like 'Therefore' and 'However' are used, but they are often placed incorrectly or do not accurately reflect the relationship between ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it hard to track the subject matter. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next, creating a more unified and coherent argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'sleeping seclude' (likely meaning schedule) and 'lace of sleep' (lack of sleep). You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to health and lifestyle, and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms to ensure your meaning is conveyed accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and fragments (e.g., 'That one is the main reason for getting enough sleep'). Subject-verb agreement and tense usage are inconsistent, such as 'It was become the reason'. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors in tense and punctuation.
