Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you identify some causes of sleep deprivation, such as mental stress and overthinking, the discussion is underdeveloped. The second part of the prompt, regarding solutions, is rushed and incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed with sufficient depth and provide a clear, full conclusion. The current lack of length and the unfinished nature of the essay prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses some basic cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the logical progression is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the overall flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the causes and the solutions is abrupt. To improve, focus on creating a more balanced structure where each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a logical conclusion before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'problems', 'stress', and 'good'. There are also issues with word formation and collocation, such as 'most commonest' (a double superlative) and 'psychiatric' (which refers to a person, not the medical advice). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range is not sufficient to demonstrate flexibility or precision. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and avoid repeating the same basic adjectives and nouns throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'there are so many diseases are very common', 'we discussing about', and 'every age group have their own problem'. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs. Reviewing basic sentence construction will help you produce more accurate, error-free sentences.
