Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention 'migraine and depression' as consequences, these points are not fully expanded upon to show a deeper understanding of the issue. Similarly, the solutions provided—physical activity and reducing screen time—are relevant but remain at a surface level. To achieve a higher band, ensure that each point is supported with more detailed explanations or specific, illustrative examples that demonstrate the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the progression between sentences can feel slightly mechanical. Some transitions, such as the shift from the causes to the solutions within the body paragraphs, could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for instance, in the second paragraph, the link between 'having enough physical activity' and the preceding sentence about remote workers could be more explicitly connected to improve the flow of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'sedentary lifestyles', 'adverse effects', and 'culminates'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that prevent a higher score. For example, you write 'growing of inactive lifestyles' (should be 'the growth of') and 'raise complain' (should be 'raise a complaint' or 'complain'). There is also a tendency to repeat basic phrasing. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and varying your vocabulary to avoid repetitive structures, which will help you convey your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'difficulties for getting' (should be 'difficulties in getting'), 'seating at home' (should be 'sitting at home'), and 'over dependence of' (should be 'over-dependence on'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest a lack of full control over complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
