Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 136 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay identifies some problems (dizziness, poor concentration, immune system issues) and touches on causes (lifestyle, junk food, social media), the development is very limited and lacks the depth required for a higher band. The conclusion is incomplete, and the response does not fully explore the solutions part of the prompt. Because the task is not fully addressed due to the severe under-length, the score is restricted.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas effectively. For instance, the transition between the health impacts and the lifestyle causes is abrupt. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure feels fragmented. To improve, you should use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to create a smoother flow between your arguments and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You use simple terms like 'major problems', 'important activity', and 'physical health'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'sever issue' (should be 'severe issues') and 'danger situation' (should be 'dangerous situation'). The range is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. To achieve a higher band, you need to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'chronic sleep deprivation', 'cognitive impairment', or 'mitigation strategies', and ensure you use them in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('a person do not get'), pluralization errors ('major problems' with singular 'a'), and awkward phrasing ('can to bring them'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms is essential.
