Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of these ideas is limited. For example, you mention 'health issues' and 'nervous system' problems but do not elaborate on the long-term consequences or specific impacts. Similarly, the solutions provided, such as 'leisure centers' or 'taking off on work', are mentioned briefly without explaining how they effectively mitigate sleep deprivation. The response lacks a clear structure, such as an introduction or a formal conclusion, which makes the overall argument feel underdeveloped and somewhat disjointed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt to separate problems and solutions, the paragraphing is inconsistent and the flow between sentences is often abrupt. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'and' or 'because of that' to start sentences. Referencing is also unclear at times, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between 'electronic items' and 'nervous system' is not explicitly linked. A more formal structure with clear topic sentences for each paragraph would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'dieses' (diseases), 'isuue' (issue), 'nowaredays' (nowadays), and 'center's' (centers). You rely on basic vocabulary like 'good', 'important', and 'lots of', which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology related to health and lifestyle, rather than relying on informal or conversational phrasing. Expanding your range of synonyms and ensuring correct word forms will help improve your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'people is not get' and 'men's and women's have to'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization after periods. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'Which also play vital role for them to not get proper bed time.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
