Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, covering mental health and fertility issues, as well as lifestyle changes like exercise and diet. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the mention of infertility is a specific point, but it lacks a clear explanation of the physiological link. The essay maintains a clear position throughout, but the depth of analysis is more characteristic of a Band 6.0, as some points are stated rather than fully explored or supported with detailed reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'To say this' or 'In other word'. Additionally, there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'this move' or 'this aforementioned issue'. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the flow is occasionally interrupted by these minor mechanical issues in cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'mitigate', 'alleviate', and 'metabolism'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'mental disturbance' (instead of 'mental health issues'), 'women health could be suffered' (instead of 'women's health could suffer'), and 'receive difficulties' (instead of 'experience difficulties'). These errors do not impede communication but indicate a limited range of precise lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with articles ('the study proven by Medical Association'), subject-verb agreement ('number of people has been complaining'), and prepositional usage ('associate with' instead of 'associated with'). Some sentences are also awkwardly phrased, such as 'In other word, person had better to do exercises'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band, as the control over complex structures is inconsistent.
