Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed. For instance, you clearly link sleep deprivation to productivity issues and health concerns like depression. However, the development is occasionally repetitive, and some points, such as the suggestion to 'consult a general physician,' could be expanded with more specific reasoning on why this is effective. The position is clear throughout, and the response maintains a consistent focus on the topic, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 level of task response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'In recent time' or the repetitive structure in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problems from the solutions, which helps the overall readability. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive links that connect ideas more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'insomnia,' 'mitigate,' 'proactive,' and 'nutritious.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'possess negative effects' (should be 'has' or 'causes'), 'meet a new people' (should be 'meet new people'), and 'nutritious rich food' (should be 'nutrient-rich'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more attention to natural English collocations. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic phrasing would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage. For example, 'it will makes individual' should be 'it makes individuals,' and 'dramatically improves' should be 'dramatically improve' after the modal 'will.' Additionally, there are issues with pluralization and tense consistency. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your intended meaning. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement and verb form errors.
