Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention stress and depression as consequences, the explanation remains quite general. Similarly, the solutions focus primarily on exercise, neglecting other common strategies like sleep hygiene or professional medical advice. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully extended with specific, nuanced examples rather than repeating similar points about 'freshness' and 'focus' in the conclusion. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis needs improvement to fully satisfy the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For example', 'As a result', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the phrase 'This is because' is used frequently to start sentences, which limits the flow. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally slightly imprecise, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'work load' and 'sleep disorder' could be more smoothly integrated. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the structure is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'sleep disorder', 'digestive system', and 'physical exercises'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'activated dead cells' (which is scientifically unclear) and 'an enough sleep' (where 'an' is unnecessary). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'which causes they to suffer' (should be 'which causes them to suffer'), 'if an individual work' (should be 'works'), and 'they may left with no time' (should be 'they may be left'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice and articles.
