Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The discussion on mobile phones is somewhat disjointed, and the section on financial problems lacks a clear link to how it specifically causes sleep deprivation, focusing more on the financial issue itself. The solutions provided, such as 'snatching' phones or government tax cuts, are simplistic and lack depth. To reach a higher band, you should provide more logical, well-supported arguments that directly connect the cause to the effect and offer more nuanced, practical solutions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow within them is often disrupted by unclear referencing and awkward transitions. For example, the transition 'On the contrary' is used incorrectly to introduce a new problem rather than a contrasting idea. Additionally, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or confusing, such as 'In this area' or 'After all the work loads'. While there is a basic structure, the progression of ideas is not always smooth, and the relationship between sentences is occasionally difficult to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors ('challanges', 'alliviate', 'senerios', 'dipressed') and word-choice issues ('surviving with financial problem', 'processed what should they do'). The range of vocabulary is limited, and the phrasing often sounds unnatural or repetitive. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to health and lifestyle, and ensure you check your spelling of common academic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('it cause severe illnesses'), incorrect verb forms ('they have surviving', 'they dipressed'), and awkward sentence construction ('mostly all aged group people make their habits to using phone'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band.
