Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention anxiety and depression, the explanation of how these occur is brief. Similarly, the solutions provided, such as 'eating healthy' and 'reducing workloads', are somewhat generic. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, explaining the physiological impact of sleep deprivation or the specific mechanisms by which exercise improves sleep quality would provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Firstly', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the logical progression is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the survey example and the mention of junk food. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'this issue' being used repeatedly without always clearly linking back to the specific antecedent. Improving the variety of your linking words will help the essay read more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'anxiety', 'depression', and 'immune system'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'most complaining' instead of 'most common complaints' and 'rise due to' instead of 'arise due to'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people consumes', 'which can be helps', 'people should follows') and awkward phrasing ('the primary issue can be rise due to'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To reach a higher band, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining your use of modal verbs and passive voice constructions.
