Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as health concerns and productivity issues, and the solutions of meditation and physical activity are logical. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the claim that 'body temperature can go high' due to lack of sleep is scientifically vague and lacks clear explanation. The response would benefit from more detailed examples or deeper analysis to move beyond a general overview. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments remain somewhat superficial throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Owing to', 'Another problem', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, although the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problems from the solutions. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or non-standard collocations, such as 'taking enough nap' (should be 'getting enough sleep'), 'less sleep time's routine', and 'physical demand tasks'. While the meaning is generally clear, the student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles with more sophisticated word choices. There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'complain' used as a noun where 'complaint' would be correct. To improve, the student should focus on more natural collocations and academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'can be go high', 'they will unable to concentrate', and 'get rid from this complain'. Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. The student should focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading to eliminate these recurring errors in verb forms and prepositions.
