Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While you mention problems like health and academic pressure, the discussion remains quite general. For instance, you mention that lack of sleep affects goals, but you do not elaborate on the specific physical or mental health consequences (e.g., cognitive impairment, weakened immune system). To reach a higher band, ensure that each idea is fully extended with specific explanations or consequences. The structure is clear, and the position is consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Consequently', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to avoid repeating phrases like 'behind this occurrence'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problems from the solutions.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. You use some common phrases like 'money minded' and 'time table', which are slightly informal or imprecise. There are also some minor collocation issues, such as 'skip their rest portion' and 'scientifically prove' (should be 'proven'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to health and lifestyle. While your meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is not yet broad enough to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'face problem of' (missing article 'the'), 'if talk about students' (missing subject 'we'), and 'even tough money is important' (should be 'though'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and tense errors throughout. To achieve a higher score, focus on improving your control over articles, subject-verb agreement, and the use of complex sentence structures. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences will significantly boost your score in this criterion.
