Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, covering mental health issues like anxiety and depression, as well as physical solutions like exercise and diet. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the link between work, diet, and stress is mentioned in both the introduction and the first body paragraph without adding new depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the consequences (e.g., impact on workplace productivity or long-term health) and provide more specific examples of how these solutions are implemented in daily life.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Consequently' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'Although, it is a serious problem,' where the comma usage is incorrect and the flow is slightly disrupted. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'the problems among people increases,' which lacks a specific antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used with more natural punctuation will enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'anxiety', 'depression', 'immune systems', and 'dietician'. However, there are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'failed to do a physical exercise' (should be 'fail to exercise'), 'behave irritated' (should be 'feel irritable'), and 'healthy livelihood' (which is not the correct context for 'livelihood'). To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary rather than relying on general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the precision of your writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the problems... increases'), incorrect verb forms ('are failed to do', 'may help them improving'), and punctuation errors, particularly with unnecessary commas after conjunctions like 'Although'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on consistent verb tense usage and refining your grasp of complex sentence structures will help improve your accuracy.
