Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, covering mental and physical health issues like stress and joint pain, and suggesting exercise and diet as remedies. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the link between workload and health is mentioned in both the introduction and the first body paragraph without adding new depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the consequences (e.g., impact on productivity or long-term health) and provide more specific, nuanced examples for the solutions provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'Firstly' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'by following physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle can help people', which creates a grammatical disconnect that affects the logical flow. Additionally, some transitions are mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'immune system', 'blood circulation', and 'anxiety'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'causes mentally and physically issues' (should be 'mental and physical issues') and 'doing gym' (should be 'going to the gym' or 'exercising'). The range is sufficient for the task, but more precise and varied vocabulary would be needed to move into the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'Heavy workload may demands' and 'it help people have a fresh start'. Additionally, there are structural errors in sentences like 'by following physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle can help people', where the subject is missing. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and sentence construction will lead to significant improvement.
