Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is no denying the fact that majority of population suffering from chronic health issues such as stress, anxiety, and many more. The core aspect behind all these diseases is sleep disorder which becomes a crucial problem in the contemporary era. I vehemently assert that lack of sleep can be cured by identifying the root cause so that potential measures can be taken.

The prominent factor is immense dependence on technological gadgets such as mobiles, computers, laptops, television, tablets and so on. These devices contains adverse rays and viruses which gradually impacted the mental state of human. Consequently, people becomes slavery and poor at basic reasoning skills. Furthermore, less sleep can detrimentally affects the natural body functions because human mind needs enough sleep to command whole body. A recent study indicates that 90% of world suffering from depression, insomnia, anxiety and stress due to poor sleeping habits. Besides this, the researchers statistics elaborated astonishing numbers of youngsters who have serious mental as well as physical diseases only because if taking impoverished sleep. Therefore, massive health crisis occurs which has worse outcomes.

On the other hand, effective controlling methods should be adopted by individuals as well as authorities. Individually, one should always determine towards their health care routine such as taking minimum 7-8 hours of sleep along with efficient physical activities that are sports, indoor games, and other recreational activities. Alongside, technological gadgets should be restricted to certain limit so that it can be utilized only for professional and educational benefits. Furthermore, government should facilitate sufficient cognizance among public related to health development. Moreover, officials should regulates stringent rules which demonstrate the significance of sleep.

In conclusion, I firmly believes that although there are uncountable unfavorable effects of sleep disorder, it can be tackled in order to cure serious health issues. It is not only effect the mental state, but also creates obstacles in physical growth which needs to consider critically.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the claim that '90% of the world' suffers from these conditions is an over-generalization that lacks supporting evidence or logical grounding. While the solutions provided are relevant, they remain somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced explanations for your points rather than relying on sweeping, statistically improbable claims. The structure is logical, but the depth of analysis needs to be more consistent to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Consequently,' 'Furthermore,' and 'On the other hand,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly forced. For example, the phrase 'Besides this, the researchers statistics elaborated astonishing numbers' is a bit awkward and does not flow naturally from the previous sentence. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'it' in the conclusion, which could refer to either 'sleep disorder' or the 'unfavorable effects.' Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help improve the flow of your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'chronic health issues,' 'contemporary era,' and 'stringent rules.' However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation. For example, 'impoverished sleep' is not a standard collocation; 'insufficient' or 'poor quality' would be more appropriate. Similarly, 'facilitate sufficient cognizance' is overly formal and slightly unnatural in this context. You also have some minor errors in word form, such as 'people becomes slavery.' While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they do limit the precision and sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'These devices contains' (should be 'contain') and 'people becomes' (should be 'become'). There are also errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'majority of population' (should be 'the majority of the population') and 'if taking impoverished sleep' (should be 'of taking'). While you attempt complex sentences, the frequency of these basic errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
