Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention that lack of sleep leads to low energy, you do not fully explore the long-term health consequences or the broader societal impact. The solutions provided, such as creating a timetable or joining a gym, are relevant but lack depth. To improve, ensure that each point is supported by a clear explanation or a more detailed example. The introduction is also quite brief and lacks a clear thesis statement outlining the structure of the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed due to grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. For example, the transition between the impact of technology and the example of grocery apps is abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'that thing make him more professional', where the antecedent is ambiguous. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'bad routine', 'good sleep', and 'do something'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'unprofersional', 'differnt', 'thue', 'entertainant', and 'atvancement', which occasionally distract the reader. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'meditation' and 'discipline', the overall lexical range is limited. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common academic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Every problem have solution'), article usage (e.g., 'in whole day'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'that thing make him more professional'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several missing capital letters at the start of sentences and incorrect comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and syntax prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors will be beneficial.
