Task - 2

In today's era, depression and anxiety issues have become very common in younger generations. This lead to lack of sleep in many people. Therefore, most of the people complain that they have difficulty getting enough sleep. This can be due to large number of reasons. Through this essay, all the causes and necessary preventions or solutions will be discussed.

To begin with, the root cause of lack of sleep in today's generation is 'overthinking'. Nowadays, children are very sensitive and they overthink in every situation. They do not want to share their feelings with their parents or friends. However, they are spending most of the time on mobile phones which effect their mental health to a great extent. Adding to this, I believe the food eaten by today's generation is mostly inorganic. Scientists have discovered that for healthy sleep, one should follow healthy diet.

Furthermore, this is a very serious issue faced by people. Parents should avoid giving mobile phones to their children. They should spend more time with them.

children which will make them less anxious. Also people facing insomnia issues can start meditation and yoga. It relaxes the mind and help in proper sleep. Moreover, children should add proper protein, carbohydrates and vitamins in their diet which will automatically make their sleep cycle better.

To conclude, the lack of sleep can lead to many severe issues like anxiety, depression and insomnia. So, this is the need of an hour for every individual facing this problem to take it seriously and avoid using mobile phones at night.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention 'overthinking' and 'inorganic food' as causes, these points are not fully explored or supported with detailed examples. The solutions, such as meditation and diet, are mentioned but lack depth. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on your points by explaining the 'how' and 'why' more thoroughly. For instance, explaining exactly how blue light from mobile phones disrupts the circadian rhythm would provide a more sophisticated analysis than simply stating it affects mental health.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' to link ideas. However, the connection between sentences is sometimes mechanical or slightly disjointed, such as the abrupt start of the third paragraph ('children which will make them less anxious'). Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'insomnia', 'anxiety', and 'circadian rhythm' (though not used here, it is a good target). However, there is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'inorganic' to describe food (usually 'processed' or 'unhealthy' is more appropriate in this context). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary to express your ideas with greater nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'This lead to' (should be 'This leads to'), 'effect their mental health' (should be 'affect'), and 'help in proper sleep' (should be 'helps with'). Additionally, there are some punctuation and sentence fragment issues, particularly in the third paragraph. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
