Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While you mention 'anxiety' and 'homesickness', these points are not fully explored or linked clearly to the consequences of sleep deprivation. The example regarding the 'rich class' and 'meditation camps' is slightly confusing and lacks a clear connection to the main argument. To improve, ensure that each point is supported by a clear explanation or a more relevant example that directly addresses the prompt's requirements for depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Apart from this', and 'On the contrary'. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly forced. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'humans should try to satisfy themselves in that things which they already have', where the connection to the previous argument is weak. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'contemporary society', 'hustle and bustle', and 'burn the midnight oil'. However, there are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'individuals body do not want enough sleep' instead of 'do not require' or 'need', and 'satisfy themselves in that things' instead of 'be satisfied with what they have'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations would help raise your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'life which create difficulties', 'individuals body do not want') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and comma splices that affect the clarity of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on ensuring that your complex structures are error-free and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules like pluralization and verb agreement.
