Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this era, the individuals are complaining about lack of sleep. This essay will discuss the problems such as depression and a serious health can occur where it will also suggest that meditation and spending time with nature could be beneficial.
One of the most significant problems that can occur because of insufficient sleep is depression. When an individual is not getting an adequate sleep, they start overthinking about a time when they had a bad time. This habit has a devastating effect on the brain, due to which they start lacking focus. They start losing interest in their jobs or personal lives. Furthermore, the lack of sleep also contributes to serious health issues . If a young adult stays awake the whole night, there are more chances that a person might experience cardiac arrest that could cause death. To take an example, there has been a survey report which shows that 30%of the population who are not getting adequate amount of sleep, would definitely have a stroke once in their life.
However, every problem has a specific solution. The most effective solution for insomnia is meditation. It helps an individual to concentrate and be more focused as it releases stress hormones from the body and makes the person feel relaxed. In addition to this, the nature is another evident solution to get relief from stress and getting good sleep. It is highly recommended that nature relaxes human mind and fulfills the souls with some positive energy and thoughts. Perhaps, such relaxing activities provide them with better health and help them to get good sleep.
To conclude, although the depression and heart stroke are two major issues that can occur due to lack of sleep, the meditation and relaxing in nature can release stress hormones. This way the adults can get rid of this.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as depression and health risks, and the solutions of meditation and nature are clearly stated. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the claim that 30% of the population will have a stroke is an unsupported generalisation that lacks nuance. While the position is clear throughout, the essay would benefit from more detailed explanations or concrete examples to reach a higher band. The conclusion is brief but effectively summarises the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition to this', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the phrase 'the nature' which is grammatically awkward. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the problems to the solutions. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'insufficient', 'devastating', and 'cardiac arrest'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'a serious health can occur' (should be 'serious health issues') and 'fulfills the souls' (should be 'nourishes the soul'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word choice to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the individuals', 'the nature') and subject-verb agreement ('the depression and heart stroke are two major issues'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'a serious health can occur where it will also suggest'. Despite these errors, the writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, and the mistakes rarely cause confusion for the reader. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would improve the score.
