Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of stress and technology, and the suggestions of exercise and meditation are practical. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that lack of discipline leads to 'sleep apnea' is medically inaccurate and represents a misunderstanding of the condition. Furthermore, the explanation of how stress affects the brain is quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and ensure that the examples provided are factually sound and fully explored.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for problems and solutions, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the missing space after periods (e.g., 'work. In', 'sleep.The'). Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack smooth flow, which occasionally disrupts the progression of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent punctuation would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'sleep cycle', 'meditation', and 'leisure activities'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward word choice or collocation errors, such as 'To much pressure on brain' (should be 'Too much pressure on the brain') and 'buy adding' (should be 'by adding'). There is also a reliance on simple phrasing. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('80% people is having'), missing articles ('a stress', 'a life'), and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with missing spaces after full stops and commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles, while also attempting more complex, error-free sentence structures.
