Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention workload and technology as causes, the explanation of the specific 'problems' (e.g., health consequences, cognitive decline) is underdeveloped. You focus more on the causes than the actual impact of sleep deprivation. To improve, ensure you explicitly detail the negative outcomes of sleep loss, such as reduced productivity or mental health issues, rather than just listing causes and solutions. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis needs to be more consistent to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'To recapitulate' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Move on the another reason'. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences lack smooth flow due to grammatical issues. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more fluid and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'sophisticated', 'corporate', and 'anxiety free'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'fit body' instead of 'a healthy body', 'locals' used to refer to people in general, and 'addictive with' instead of 'addicted to'. Some phrasing is also repetitive. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the presence of errors in word formation prevent a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include missing articles ('the' workplace), incorrect preposition usage ('on the another reason'), and subject-verb agreement errors ('Worker do Hard work'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and capitalization. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
