Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays people complaining about having difficulties in not getting proper sleep has become a major concern.
To begin with I would like to address the aforementioned issue as growing common problem which is being seen in all age groups.
In my opinion the reason for lack of sleep is smartphones, technology and huge load of work assigned by employer after working hours. In this progressing generation where everyone is tech-savvy. It is quite difficult to manage create a balance between work and social life. As a matter of fact people can't be separated from mobile phones which is why they have lost control over there own life. For instance employees are seen scrolling social media in working hours which results tasks to get pilled up in order to complete pending work employees are seen working late at night by sacrificing the time which was ment for sleeping.
Furthermore, younger generation is so doomed in social media that they can't differentiate between reel and real life. In order to connect with more people or to be a part of trends they focus on spending more time online at night than sleeping where they are seen scrolling instagram, facebook, watching youtube or playing online video games. Which hampers their sleeping schedule but they happily like to invest sleeping time into their favorite activities.
In my suggestion to overcome the issue government should take strict action in deploying strict rules like as follows - An employer can't overload their employee and a task assigned at work should completed during office hours. All online platforms should be shutdown from 10 PM until 6 AM. As human being lost control how to get proper seven hours of sleep it why necessary steps must to taken to cater the people of our society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The discussion on problems focuses heavily on technology and social media, while the solutions are quite idealistic and lack practical depth, such as the suggestion to shut down all online platforms globally at 10 PM. While the position is clear, the ideas could be more thoroughly supported with more realistic examples or nuanced arguments to reach a higher band. The response covers the requirements but remains somewhat superficial in its analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In my suggestion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the jump from discussing work-life balance to the younger generation's social media habits is a bit sudden. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which affects the overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively managed to enhance the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'doomed in social media' (instead of 'engrossed' or 'addicted') and 'pilled up' (a misspelling of 'piled'). The student relies on common, everyday language and struggles with collocations. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or precise vocabulary limits the score. More variety in expressing concepts like 'work-life balance' or 'consequences' would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('people complaining' instead of 'people complain'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms ('ment' instead of 'meant', 'there' instead of 'their'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the student attempts complex sentences, these are often where the errors are most prominent. The frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered consistently accurate.
