Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as workplace performance and mental health, and the solutions provided, like scheduling and napping, are practical. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation of the problems is clearer than the solutions, which rely on anecdotal examples like athletes. While the position is clear, some points, such as the reference to 'New York time' and 'Parul University', lack sufficient integration or clarity. To reach a higher band, ensure that each idea is fully explored with more logical depth rather than relying on general examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', and 'However'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the transition to the survey example feels abrupt. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'worst beginning of day' instead of 'a poor start to the day', and 'low and frustating' instead of 'lethargic and frustrated'. Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'dizeness' (dizziness) and 'refereshing' (refreshing). While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary, the frequent spelling errors and imprecise collocations limit the score. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to health and workplace productivity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('most of the people are', 'atheles follows'), incorrect verb forms ('cannot able to complete', 'can feels more depressed'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. A more careful review of sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would be beneficial.
