Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that some individuals facing difficulties for not having proper sleep. In my view because of spending maximum amount of time on screen and due to the stress people facing such issues. However this problems can be overcome by proper routine and exercise.

The core reason behind individuals facing challanges related to the not having sleep is spending unexpected time on screen. To elaborate, nowadays youth engaged themself more either with televison or wiht thier phones. Sometimes they use tehcnological devices for late night which impacts on not only their sleeping cycle but also on users health. Additionally, workers have more pressure from their boss and due to the stress many can not go into deep sleep. Which affect on thier health and many people being victims of depression. In current time many children are facing problem related to the eyes because of using mobiles for longer time.

According to my perspecitve, a fixed routine is beneficial for living a helathy lifestyle. Moreover exercise plays vital role in human life for having a good sleep and maintaing a body physics. Apart from this proper diet can also help to sleep on time for instance, if person under medical care eat appropriate dinner, it can be easy for their digestion system. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the problems caused by a lack of sleep and offering potential solutions. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, screen time is mentioned multiple times without expanding significantly into new analytical depth. Some sentences contain fragmented expressions, such as 'which affects on their health and many people being victims of depression,' which slightly undermines the clarity of the argument. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing problems and solutions, and a brief concluding attempt (though it trails off mid-sentence). Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'To elaborate,' 'Additionally,' and 'Moreover,' although some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'According to my perspective' instead of 'In my opinion.' Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct themes, but referencing and linking across sentences occasionally falter, leading to a score of 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas about sleep, health, and routines. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'challanges' instead of 'challenges', 'tehcnological' instead of 'technological', 'helathy' instead of 'healthy', and 'inproper' instead of 'improper'. The writer attempts less common phrases like 'vital role' and 'physical activities,' but lexical control is inconsistent, placing this response firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is a notable weakness. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence structures, such as 'some individuals facing difficulties for not having proper sleep' and 'Which affect on thier health.' Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also frequently problematic. While communication is not entirely impeded, the high frequency of grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a Band 6.0.
