Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is widely acknowledged that the number of people having trouble to sleep is continue to increase. In fact, this problem is becoming common in many parts of the world. A compromised health is one of the problems associated with insufficient sleep. This problem can be tackled effectively through a significant effort from the people.
There are various issues lack of sleep can caused to people. It can have a negative impact on their well-being. This is mainly because the the body is not getting the appropriate amount of time to relax and restore its energy. The body has its own limitations and when it reached that point it could collapsed, affecting either a person's physical or mental health. By not havibg enough of sleep for whatever reasons, people do not realized that they are compromising their health, which consequently affect their ability to perform their personal and/ professioanl lives. For instance, watching a series or browsing the internet for an extended period of time can deny they body the time to prepare for sleep, thus affects its cpability to regenerate teh energy required for the following day.
Additionally, insufficent sleep can decrease productivity, which consequently affects their ability to perform their personal and professional activities. For example, driving to work without proper sleep can caused vehicular accidents since does not have energy to navigate the ride from hosue to school. Another instance where a lack of sleep can render a person unproductive is when they cannot think logically and strategically think, thereby impacting their ability excel at work.
To effectively solve the problems of being able to sleep, it is essential that people should recognize their body's capabilities. They should start with disciplining themselves. While seeking professional help can be useful with sleeping problems, the solution still lies to the them. Individuals should impose rules among themselves. For example, set a screen time limit. If they are having a hard time to doing it, they can take small steps. For instance, start by deducting one hour from their daily screen time. In terms, of work or life-related stress, a person should start with reminding thmselves everyday that their physical and mental health is their priority. They should also make sure to spend time with people so that they do not feel socially isolated.
In conclusion, insufficent sleep can have a siginificant impact on peoples' lives. I believe that it is dangerous not only to those who have trouble sleeping but also to those around them. A collective effort from the public is necessary to addressed the problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the problems caused by a lack of sleep and proposing actionable solutions. The student develops ideas reasonably well, noting physical and mental health consequences, productivity issues, and solutions such as behavioral discipline and limiting screen time. However, there is some repetition in the body paragraphs regarding productivity, and certain explanations lack depth or contain minor over-generalizations. Overall, the task is addressed adequately and covers the main requirements satisfactorily, earning a band score of 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is generally coherent with an overall logical arrangement, dividing ideas into introduction, causes/problems, solutions, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'In terms, of work' contain punctuation errors, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'lies to the them'. While the progression of ideas is discernible, the cohesive devices are not always managed with complete flexibility.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'compromised health', 'socially isolated', and 'strategic'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'having trouble to sleep', 'is continue to increase', 'havibg', 'realized', and 'professioanl'. These lexical inaccuracies and typos slightly impede the flow of reading, placing the lexical control solidly at a band 5.5 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'the the body', 'when it reached that point it could collapsed', 'can caused vehicular accidents since does not have energy', and 'the solution still lies to the them'. Punctuation errors also appear, particularly around commas. These frequent errors distract the reader and limit the grammatical score.
