Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the causes of sleep deprivation such as late-night screen time and lack of physical activity, as well as solutions like exercise, reduced screen time, and healthy eating. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on mobile phones and sleeping disorders lacks deep extension and relies on general statements rather than fully elaborated examples. The position is maintained throughout, and the scope of the task is covered, but ideas would benefit from greater elaboration and specific examples to reach a higher band. Overall, it satisfies the basic requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into paragraphs with basic introductory and concluding frameworks. However, the logical progression is hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing, such as 'sleeping disorders comes in their body' and 'due to aforementioned paragraphs,' which is an incomplete concluding clause. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, and referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'this trend and the ideas'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow of ideas within paragraphs lacks seamless connection. Overall, the arrangement provides a basic structure, but cohesion and logical flow frequently falter.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some topic-related vocabulary such as 'physical activity,' 'meditation,' and 'sleeping disorders,' but errors in word formation, collocation, and choice are noticeable throughout the text. Examples include 'effect the body' (affect), 'tide' (tired), 'imrovevtheir' (improve their), and 'diet and make their body fit and fine.' Repetition of common words like 'body,' 'problems,' and 'people' restricts the lexical range. These lexical inaccuracies and limited control over less common vocabulary occasionally cause difficulty or require extra effort from the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic compound structures joined by 'and' or 'but.' Attempts at more complex structures frequently result in errors, such as 'a lot of people can face the difficulty to getting enough sleep' and 'a numerous people use the mobile phones.' Punctuation is faulty, particularly with unnecessary comma placements (e.g., 'It is true that, thesedays...'). Grammatical errors and awkward phrasing are frequent throughout the response, which can cause strain for the reader, although meaning is generally retrievable.
