Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying causes of lack of sleep and suggesting practical solutions. Your position is clear throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as mentioning health problems, work-life balance, and lifestyle changes. However, some ideas could be further extended and supported. For instance, the statistic you cited about cancer ('Cancer rate has increased drastically by 24% in the last two years because of insomnia, according to World Health Organization') feels somewhat unsupported or generalized in its causal link. Nevertheless, you have covered both prompt questions sufficiently to meet the criteria for a Band 6.5 or 6, successfully presenting a relevant argument and supporting examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall arrangement with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing problems and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'Additionally,' 'Firstly,' and 'Secondly.' However, some referencing and transitions feel a bit mechanical or faulty. For example, writing 'tackle this problem problem' contains a repetition error, and referencing within sentences can occasionally be slightly unclear. Progression is generally logical, leading to a solid Band 6 performance under this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'cognitive disabilities,' 'overall well-being,' and 'awareness campaigns.' However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'difficulties to get' instead of 'difficulty getting,' 'adapt a health life-style' instead of 'adopt a healthy lifestyle,' and 'held some workshop' instead of 'hold some workshops.' Despite these lexical inaccuracies, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary remains minimally sufficient to satisfy the Band 6 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety with conditional clauses like 'If people are struggling... they could suffer.' However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'In these days' instead of 'Nowadays,' 'difficulties to balance' instead of 'difficulty balancing,' 'longer period' instead of 'longer periods,' 'atleast' (spelling/spacing), and 'held some workshop.' Furthermore, subject-verb agreement and prepositional choices show instability ('contribute into this' instead of 'contribute to this'). These errors do not impede communication, placing the response firmly at Band 6.
