Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to address both parts of the prompt regarding the problems caused by a lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the response falls significantly short of the word count requirement, containing only 185 words compared to the minimum of 250 words. This under-length impacts the overall development of ideas. While the writer mentions health issues such as 'Highper tension' and 'heart attack', the explanation of solutions is extremely underdeveloped, consisting merely of a brief concluding sentence stating 'every day sleep atleast 7 hour for everyone'. The position is evident, but the ideas lack sufficient expansion, explanation, and examples to meet the higher band criteria. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially, reflecting a Band 5 performance for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is organized into brief paragraphs using some basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In concultion'. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by fragmented sentences and abrupt shifts in topic. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs lack clear internal cohesion and unified development; for instance, the second paragraph mixes workload stress with medical consequences in a disjointed manner. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical overuse of simple connectors limits the flow of ideas. Overall, the essay displays some organization, but the overall progression is flawed and cohesive relationships are frequently inadequate or inaccurate, which aligns with a Band 5 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The student uses a limited range of vocabulary adequate only for expressing basic ideas. There are numerous noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'Highper tension' for hypertension, 'diebites' for diabetes, 'hacting' for acting, and 'asies' for arises. Words are frequently misused in collocations, for example, 'compeleted sleep' instead of 'getting enough sleep' or 'sleep deprivation'. While the writer attempts some less common topical terms like 'resposiblity' and 'international job', frequent inaccuracies in spelling and lexical form cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and obscure meaning at times, restricting the score to Band 4.5, which is rounded to 4.5 based on standard half-band practices or placed firmly at Band 5 due to basic adequacy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple sentences and frequent sentence fragments, such as 'lots of problem can lack of sleep cause.' and 'online work in every office in international job.' Attempts at complex structures are rare and almost always faulty, as seen in 'people faced the lots of problem in health just beachuse not compeleted sleep.' Punctuation and capitalization are erratic, with spaces placed incorrectly before punctuation marks and sentences starting without capital letters. Errors in subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and prepositions are frequent and often cause strain and difficulty for the reader in understanding the intended meaning, matching the descriptors for Band 4.
