Student answer (Band 6.0)
In contemporary society, every second person is complaining about not getting enough sleep. Individuals make their lives so complicated and involve themselves in number of needless activities due to which their sleep cycle compromised. This essay will analyze how much is sleep important for a person? what can be the cause of not getting enough sleep? what health issues can a person face due to lack of sleep? and what measures should a person take to get enough sleep?
A good sleep will determine how an individual performs whole day. If a person is not getting enough sleep it will eventually affect his performance throughout the day either he works at office or home. For instance, a mother of an infant is not able to get enough sleep at night because she was fulfilling the needs of her child, the next day she gets cranky and could not look after the baby. So a quality sleep is necessary to perform day to day task.
There can be a number of reasons of not getting enough sleep. Nowadays, a significant number of people use cellphone at night before their sleep time. A cellphone emits blue light that affect their sleep cycle by releasing hormones that give signals to their brain to keep waking up. Moreover, social media is another reason, majority of the people just doom scrolling at night and compromised their sleep as a result they feel tired all day. However, some people try to complete entire season in one night an eventually disturbed their sleep. In addition, other reasons can be anxiety, depression, over thinking, and regrets.
Furthermore, if a person does not get enough sleep it will cause several health problems in future. For instance, a person may experience hair loss issue, skin started to look dull, may have under eye bags or dark circles, increase in body weight, body does not function well, and he started to feel and look older than his age.
An individual should take measures to fix his sleep cycle by waking up early in the morning and try to finish all the work before sleep time. Moreover, get in habit to read books before sleep rather than use a cellphone because reading helps to sooth the mind. Some people proudly address them as 'Night Owl' which is something not to be proud of.
To conclude, a proper peaceful sleep is necessary for every individual because when a person sleeps body started to repair itself. Sleeping early has several positive impacts on a person's health too. A good sleep is directly proportional to a good mood all day.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, examining both the problems caused by lack of sleep and the potential solutions. The introduction features a somewhat non-standard approach by framing the points as a series of direct questions rather than a clear thesis statement, and the phrasing 'how much is sleep important' is unnatural. However, the body paragraphs successfully cover the required prompts. The causes of sleep deprivation are discussed, including blue light from cell phones and social media doom scrolling. Health issues are also clearly outlined, such as hair loss, weight gain, and skin problems. Solutions are offered in the concluding body paragraphs, such as waking up early and reading books before sleep. The ideas are adequately supported with relevant examples, demonstrating a clear understanding of the topic, though the development leans somewhat towards listing rather than deeper elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is generally coherent and follows a logical overall progression. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, causes, effects, solutions, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude'. However, some cohesive links feel mechanical or slightly repetitive, and referencing is occasionally imprecise. For example, the sentence 'An individual should take measures to fix his sleep cycle by waking up early in the morning and try to finish all the work before sleep time' transitions abruptly into the next point without smoother integration. Additionally, transitional phrases between paragraphs could be refined to create a more seamless flow of arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'contemporary society', 'sleep cycle', 'doom scrolling', and 'proportional'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text. Examples include 'involve themselves in number of needless activities due to which their sleep cycle compromised' (missing articles and verb forms), 'keep waking up' instead of 'stay awake', and 'hair loss issue' instead of simply 'hair loss'. Less common lexical items are attempted with mixed success. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, these frequent minor errors prevent the response from achieving a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional structures like 'If a person is not getting enough sleep it will eventually affect...' and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in article usage ('a good sleep', 'the whole day'), missing auxiliary verbs ('because she was fulfilling' transitioning into 'the next day she gets'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('skin started', 'body does not function', 'he started'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but comma splices and run-on structures occasionally appear. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the response to a Band 6.0.
