Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying problems related to lack of sleep such as dizziness and poor performance, and suggesting solutions like reducing mobile phone usage and exercising. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on mobile phones and social media is fragmented across the text. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 226 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. This under-length naturally impacts the depth and extension of the ideas presented, resulting in a score of Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Paragraphing is poorly managed; the text lacks a clear introduction and conclusion, and body paragraphs blend different ideas without logical separation. For example, the second paragraph abruptly shifts from diet to lifestyle and parenting without smooth transitions. Cohesive devices are minimal, mechanical, and occasionally inaccurate, such as using 'and' repetitively to chain clauses together instead of constructing varied, structured sentences. The overall progression of ideas is hindered by abrupt shifts and a lack of clear referencing, leading to a score of Band 4.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors such as 'thet', 'fone', 'diffculties', 'medai', 'deit', 'childern', and 'excerise'. There are also frequent word-form and collocation errors, such as 'have very difficulties to getting', 'sleeping pattren', and 'most of the meal were order'. While the writer attempts some less common terms like 'lifestyle' and 'medication', the high density of basic lexical and spelling errors restricts the range and occasionally impedes comprehension, placing this aspect in Band 4.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical structure is heavily flawed, consisting mostly of poorly constructed simple sentences or run-on sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions. There is a very limited range of accurate complex structures. Frequent errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('One of my friend also have'), tense inconsistencies, and incorrect prepositions ('in evening time'). Punctuation is largely neglected, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and absent periods. These persistent, pervasive errors make it difficult for the reader at times, supporting a score of Band 4.0.
