Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response attempts to address all parts of the prompt by discussing the problems associated with a lack of sleep and offering solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times confusing. For instance, the introduction contains a contradictory opening statement, claiming that 'they have difficulties getting enough sleep, this may bring some benefits,' which is illogical in this context. While the writer identifies problems such as diseases, memory issues, and exhaustion, these points lack detailed explanation or robust examples, offering only a brief mention that 'in India many people do not getting proper sleep.' Solutions are also somewhat superficial, such as suggesting companies 'give less work to their employees.' Overall, the response meets the prompt's thematic requirements but remains somewhat underdeveloped, corresponding to a Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four standard paragraphs, which gives it a recognizable structure. However, logical progression is frequently disrupted by poor cohesive devices and abrupt transitions. Sentences within paragraphs often lack smooth connections; for example, the second paragraph lists multiple issues without effective linking words, leading to a disjointed reading experience. Furthermore, referencing is weak and confusing in places, such as when the writer states 'this problems can be destroy human's life' without a clear antecedent for 'this.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal organization of ideas requires much better signposting and logical flow to achieve a higher band, placing this performance firmly at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, frequently relying on everyday words like 'problem,' 'people,' 'life,' and 'work.' There are numerous instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'individual can face diseases like memory problem' and 'human always feel tired.' Attempts to use more advanced vocabulary are generally unsuccessful or inaccurate, as seen in phrases like 'tis is beneficial' and 'needs god for people's health.' Spelling and word-form errors, such as 'do not getting proper sleep' instead of 'getting,' further restrict the lexical score. The vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak throughout the essay. There are frequent grammatical errors that often impede understanding, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('individual can face,' 'company should give') and tense inconsistencies. Punctuation is also problematic, particularly with comma splices linking independent clauses, as seen in the opening sentence: 'Nowadays, it is widely believed that they have difficulties getting enough sleep, this may bring some benefits...' Other errors include missing auxiliary verbs ('people do not getting') and awkward phrasing. Because frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and simple structures are error-prone, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
