Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the task by identifying problems associated with a lack of sleep, such as weakened immunity and slow brain processing, and suggesting solutions like reducing screen time and increasing physical activity. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times superficial, with generalisations such as 'Around 90% of pepole have diffculities getting enough sleep'. While a clear position is established and maintained throughout, the supporting examples lack depth and specific detail, pushing the response toward the lower end of the Band 6 descriptor range where some ideas are under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introducing the topic to discussing causes and problems, and finally offering solutions in the concluding paragraphs. Paragraphing is utilised adequately to separate distinct ideas, such as the causes in the second paragraph and the preventative measures in the third. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the abrupt transition in 'To begin with, there are several resons why pepole heavily invloved...', and referencing is occasionally unclear. Overall, the structure is sufficiently logical to warrant a Band 6.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'rapidly evolving world', 'immunue system', and 'work-life balence'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the response, including 'toipc', 'pepole', 'diffculities', 'invloved', 'scroling', 'chlidrens', 'dangerously', 'nevers', 'pervent', and 'excersises'. These lexical and orthographic inaccuracies are noticeable and occasionally impede communication, placing the writing firmly in the Band 5 category for this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to connect clauses using conjunctions and transition words. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('it effect the small chlidrens', 'it cause brain', 'it did'nt help', 'imporve sleeping hours'), incorrect prepositions, and punctuation flaws. Attempts at complex structures frequently result in faulty syntax, causing some difficulty for the reader and aligning the performance with the Band 5 descriptors.
