Student answer (Band 5.5)
Insomnia is the most common and the biggest threat to human in this current era. There are many factors like noise pollution, unhealthy diet, irregular daily routine, stress, anxiety, etc are some of the root causes of improper sleep.
First of all the most common cause is sound pollution from cars, factories, loud speakers, etc. Secondly we are living in industrial revolution period where progress is on top priority. Humans are migrating from rural to urban areas to get employment. So plethora of people are rushing towards cities but here there were already lots of people already which is causing overpopulation and inflation. Jobs are less but people are more so workers have to compromise in their wages due to this people have to work more for to fulfill their basic needs. So collectively this whole scenario is increasing stress and because of this reason there is risk in physical and mental health of people disturbing the natural circadian rhythm of humans.
There is need maintaining for personal and professional balance in our daily routine. Ensure eight hours of sleep from 10.00pm to 06.00am, make sure no to eat anything before three hours of sleeping time. Increase proportion of fruits, vegetables and raw foods which are easy to digest and have lots of fibres. Avoid processed such as chips, biscuits and heavy foods like meat, cheese because it contains saturated fat which will disturb the sleep pattern in one or either ways. Nowadays we have to digitally detoxify ourselves by avoiding screens especially before bed time.
Instead of focusing more on money every individual have to think for health first because even if one will earn wealth by over-time ignoring sleep will certaintly lose more money in future for to recover health. Sleep, health and good habits should on top priority rather than working like robots.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the problems caused by a lack of sleep and offering potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the causes and problems—such as stress, health risks, and economic pressures—are mentioned, some concepts like urbanisation and inflation are introduced as tangents without a direct, clear connection to sleep deprivation. The solutions section suggests lifestyle changes like diet and digital detox, but these are presented in a somewhat generalised manner without full elaboration. To move to a higher level, the writer would need to fully extend and support every idea with clearer explanations and more precise examples rather than shifting abruptly between topics.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure, moving from causes and problems in the first half to solutions in the second. Paragraphing is attempted, grouping related ideas together, although the second paragraph is overly long and combines multiple distinct points. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or basic, such as the repetitive use of 'First of all' and 'Secondly', and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in abrupt transitions between sentences like 'So plethora of people are rushing towards cities...'. To achieve a higher score, the writer should employ a wider range of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure smoother, more logical logical progression between paragraphs and sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'circadian rhythm', 'industrial revolution', and 'digital detoxify'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as writing 'sound pollution' instead of 'noise pollution', 'industrial revolution period' instead of 'industrial era', and 'processed' without a noun. Word form errors also occur, such as 'There is need maintaining'. These lexical slips and inaccuracies are noticeable but do not seriously impede communication. To reach a higher level, the vocabulary needs to show greater precision, natural collocation, and control over word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Noticeable issues include subject-verb agreement and missing articles or prepositions, such as 'threat to human in this current era', 'there were already lots of people already', 'work more for to fulfill', and 'should on top priority'. Punctuation errors are also present, including run-on sentences and missing commas. To improve, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic grammatical structures, improve article and preposition usage, and construct error-free complex sentences.
