Student answer (Band 6.0)
The sound sleep plays crucial role in the overall health of a person. However, these days people are not able to get enough sleep which has led to the emergence of differing opinions related to it in the society. It is the stress and tension that can be considered as major causes behind this. Nevertheless, I think meditation and yoga can help people to overcome this issue. This essay will examine both reasons and solutions for the problem of sleeplessness.
One of the major reasons behind this trend is too much stress in life. This is because people are not only worried about the uncertanity for their success, but they also think about security of their family. As a result, they are mentally exhausted all the time. For example, many rich people are not able to take deep sleep as their mind is taking to much pressure due to stress. Taken together, If an individual has tension, then it would be hard for him to get good sleep .
A practical approach to deal with this issue is meditation and yoga. The underlying reason behind this is that meditation can not only help people to feel calmness, but it can also make them happy. As a consequence, they can enjoy proper sleep in the night. Evidence can be found that one hour of early morning session of yoga and meditation is enough to address the tiredness of mind. Thus, all the above discussed points can be considered as worthwhile to address lack of sleep.
In conclusion, majority of people are facing problem of improper sleep due to stress and tension in their life. Nevertheless, yoga nd meditation can be considered as most promising solution to this issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the problems and solutions associated with a lack of sleep, but the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer mentions stress and tension as causes, the explanation relies on general statements like 'people are not only worried about the uncertanity for their success' rather than providing deep, fully expanded points. Similarly, the solution involving meditation and yoga is introduced effectively, but the support lacks specific detail or elaboration beyond stating that it brings calmness and happiness. The student does present a clear position throughout the essay, but the overall development of ideas remains at a basic level, preventing the response from achieving a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each main idea housed in its own distinct section. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical or repetitive, utilizing standard transitional phrases like 'One of the major reasons behind this trend' and 'A practical approach to deal with this issue'. Referencing is mostly clear, though some cohesive devices are slightly over-used or simplistic. To reach the next level, the writer needs to employ more sophisticated and fluid cohesive links that integrate ideas more naturally without relying on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'exhausted', 'meditation', and 'sleeplessness'. However, there are noticeable word choice, spelling, and word form inaccuracies that occasionally draw attention, such as 'uncertanity' instead of uncertainty, 'take deep sleep' instead of get deep sleep, and the spelling typo 'nd' in the final paragraph. Additionally, phrases like 'taking to much pressure' reveal minor collocation slips. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score because the vocabulary control lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and varied structures, such as 'This is because people are not only worried about...' and 'If an individual has tension, then it would be hard...'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation present throughout the text, including article misuses like 'The sound sleep plays crucial role' and minor punctuation placement issues. However, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To achieve a higher band, the student should aim to increase the proportion of error-free complex sentences and refine their control over articles and prepositions within more intricate grammatical patterns.
