Student answer (Band 6.0)

This has been noticed in past few years that people are experiencing less sleep. There are several resons behind it. The main reasons that has been observed are extended screen time and time management that leads to stress and lack of sleep.

Because people cannot get proper sleep in their daily life, they face a number of problems. Most of the individuals face backpain and headache during the day and are very stressed while doing any task. These problems create further issues such as productivity at work and lack of communication with colleagues that also affect the businesses they work for. People not getting enough of sleep also face anxiety issues that creates fumble beteween relationships. Furthermore, people also gain weight and experience memory loss that is a critical matter of concern in a person's daily life. People who get obease are more likely to have more stressfull life at work as well as in their personal space.

To address these problems the foremost solutions would be to be disciplined. If an individual is much disciplined, having a proper scedule and managing its time efficiently can beat the insomnia very easily. Moreover, there should be a limit to use the didgital devices. Less screen time equals to less stressful life. Therefore people can do meditation to spend their time.

In a nutshell, my belief is to stay disciplined if someone wants to enjoy the life and keep a good track of health alongside. If there is a problem, there is a reason behind it that is creating it. Hence, there is a soultion as well to every problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the problems caused by a lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. While the effects on physical health, such as back pain, headaches, and weight gain, along with workplace productivity and relationships, are mentioned, they remain somewhat general. For instance, stating that issues 'create fumble beteween relationships' touches upon a relevant problem, but this point could have been extended with more specific examples. Similarly, the solutions provided—such as exercising discipline, managing time efficiently, and reducing screen time—are relevant and directly answer the second part of the prompt, yet they lack detailed explanation or concrete illustration from personal experience.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression of ideas from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. The response is divided into logical paragraphs, with the first addressing causes, the second focusing on problems, and the third exploring solutions. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In a nutshell'. However, some elements of cohesion feel mechanical or slightly repetitive, and referencing is not always entirely clear, as seen in the phrase 'that is creating it' at the end of the text. Furthermore, paragraphing shows a solid structural foundation, reaching the threshold of the next band by effectively separating distinct thematic components, even though internal transitions could flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items such as 'productivity', 'meditation', and 'insomnia'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally detract from the precision of the writing, such as 'resons', 'didgital', 'obease', 'scedule', and 'soultion'. Collocations are sometimes awkward, for example, 'fumble beteween relationships'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is minimally sufficient to convey the intended meaning without severely impeding communication, successfully meeting the baseline requirements for this level while hinting at a broader lexical range that requires greater control and precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional clauses ('If an individual is much disciplined... can beat the insomnia very easily'). There are some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The main reasons that has been observed'), awkward preposition use ('gain weight and experience memory loss that is a critical matter of concern in a person\'s daily life'), and comparative forms ('more stressfull life'). Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication and the reader can follow the argument. The grammar features enough successful simple and complex sentences to balance out the recurring inaccuracies.
