Student answer (Band 6.0)
Individuals in this era are having difficulty getting the amount of sleep they need. Although this trend can lead to serious health issues, such as obesity and depression, an active and healthy lifestyle can be helpful to address this issue.
One main cause is that limited amount of sleep can negatively impact on health. Many chronic diseases: obesity, insomia, depression and stress can be attributed due to a lack of sleep. Since brain does not receive an appropriate rest time, it does not function precisely. For example, a brain is a main part of the body that allows the physical movements effectively and help to make day-to-day decisions. However, when people do not get sufficient sleep, it also stays awake for that period of time, and leaves limited energy to perform any task, and they feeling sleepy for whole day as well.
Nevertheless, the main solution that, could be a paramount solution against this cause, is related to regular physical activities. Since individuals engage into exercises, such as jogging, stretching or playing any sports, they feel more relaxed and their body ultimately signals brain to sleep promptly. To illustrate, athletes practice hard to stay fit and performe better in games, and this make their body tired. Consequently, to incumbent with tiredness, they need a proper sleep to rest their body, so they can feel active and energentic for next day performance. That is why, if people follow the healthy lifestyle by doing regular physical activities and exercises, they may be able to get sufficient amount of sleep, which can also make them less prone to serious health risks.
In conclusion, even though a lack of sleep is making them unhealthy, this problem can be resolved significantly if they follow a healthy lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the problems caused by a lack of sleep and potential solutions. The main ideas are relevant and identifiable, such as mentioning obesity and depression in relation to health issues, and proposing regular physical activities as a solution. However, some parts of the task are developed more fully than others. For example, while the discussion on physical activity as a solution is extended with examples of jogging and athletes, the exploration of the problems is somewhat repetitive and under-developed, relying on general statements like 'brain does not receive an appropriate rest time' rather than fully exploring the psychological or productivity impacts. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of idea extension is characteristic of a solid six-level performance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving logically from an introduction to problems, solutions, and a concise conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'Although this trend', 'Nevertheless', and 'To illustrate', which bridge the transition into higher-level structural organisation. However, referencing and cohesion can occasionally be slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'Since' clauses to introduce reasons. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, and while some cohesive links feel a bit predictable, the logical flow is steady enough to meet the lower threshold comfortably while showing glimpses of clearer progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate main points about health and lifestyle. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'chronic diseases', 'paramount solution', and 'incumbent', but these attempts are accompanied by notable inaccuracies in word choice and collocations. For instance, writing 'impact on health' instead of 'impact health', 'insomia' (spelling error), and the awkward phrase 'to incumbent with tiredness' instead of 'to cope with tiredness' or 'to combat tiredness'. These lexical slips and minor spelling errors do not completely impede communication, placing the response squarely within an adequate range where precision is occasionally missing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination with structures like 'Although this trend can lead...' and 'Since individuals engage into...'. There are some grammatical and punctuation errors present, such as unnecessary comma splices ('The main solution that, could be a paramount solution...'), missing articles ('for whole day'), and preposition errors ('engaged into exercises' instead of 'engaged in exercise'). However, these errors rarely impede communication and the basic meaning remains clear. The mix of sentence structures and the presence of both error-free sentences and manageable mistakes align well with a performance that handles grammar with acceptable control while still containing noticeable lapses.
