Student answer (Band 7.0)
In today's fast-paced world, many people have distorted sleep cycles. The ramifications of having a disturbed sleep cycle are widespread including, mood irritability and potential health hazards. A work-life balance and a healthy diet are prerequisites to attain a peaceful sleep.
An indequate sleep can cause a myriad of problems. People who do not get enough sleep are often irritable and and get angry at petty issues. This negatively affects their personal and professional relations, and social interactions. Moreover, a lack of sleep can be a root cause of many health hazards, as a sound sleep is essential to allow the human body to repair its damaged cells. A pertinent example is that people who do not get adequate sleep often have low immunity against viral infections. Similarly, a lack of sleep can trigger headaches in susceptible individuals.
To avoid the unforeseen health hazards, it is important that people should make deliberate efforts to improve their sleep quality. The most plausible solution for this problem is to achieve work-life balance. People should learn to balance their personal and professional lives so that they can find some leisure time to unwind. A stress-free mind is likely to have better sleep quality. To illustrate, I try to complete my work during office timings, and I have stopped carrying office work to my house. This have given me enough time to relax with my family, and now I have a better sleep schedule. Furthermore, people should also learn to adopt a healthy diet because a diet that is deficient in nutrients, such as magnesium, impairs the sleeop quality. So, its important that people should have a diet rich in essential nutrients.
In conclusion, I reaffirm that lack of adequate sleep is a serious health concern, which needs to be addressed. People should enlighten themselves that a stress-free mind will have a good sleep quality, and for this reason, they should strive to achieve work-life balance. The benefits of eating a healthy diet to improve sleep quality cannot be overstated.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the question and maintains a clear focus: it identifies effects such as irritability, strained relationships, reduced immunity and headaches, then proposes work-life balance and a nutritious diet. The personal example about leaving office work at the workplace helps illustrate one solution. These relevant points are extended with explanations, which supports the response’s clear, developed treatment of the task. However, the discussion of causes and remedies remains somewhat general: the health effects are illustrated, but the diet recommendation is not supported with a specific example or explanation of how it could be put into practice. Developing that point further and qualifying broad claims would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear four-part structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on problems, a paragraph on solutions and a conclusion. Ideas progress logically from effects to remedies, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “Similarly,” “To illustrate” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The personal example is placed appropriately within the solutions paragraph. Cohesion is generally effective, though some linking is a little formulaic, and the final paragraph largely repeats the recommendations already made rather than drawing the discussion together in a fresh way. The solutions paragraph also contains two separate recommendations that could be developed in more clearly balanced sections. More varied transitions and tighter referencing would make the progression feel more seamless.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
There is a useful range of vocabulary, including “ramifications,” “prerequisites,” “susceptible individuals” and “deliberate efforts,” and the meaning remains clear throughout. The writer also uses topic-related language such as “sleep quality,” “immunity” and “work-life balance.” However, some less common choices are not fully natural or precise: “mood irritability” is awkward, “health hazards” is broad, and “a sound sleep” is less idiomatic in this context than “good-quality sleep.” There are also spelling errors in “indequate,” “sleeop” and “its,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations and proofread spelling, while retaining the range of vocabulary already attempted.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex structures, including relative clauses (“a diet that is deficient in nutrients”) and reason clauses (“because a sound sleep is essential…”). Many sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and the overall argument is easy to follow. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “People who do not get enough sleep are often irritable and and get angry,” the repeated conjunction disrupts the sentence. “This have given me enough time” has subject–verb disagreement, while “it is important that people should make” combines an unnecessary modal with the construction. There are also occasional article and sentence-control issues. Review agreement and clause patterns, and proofread for repeated words; greater consistency would strengthen the otherwise varied sentence range.
