Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response recognises the topic and offers relevant suggestions, especially sharing work more evenly, allowing adequate time, and providing public awareness programmes. However, it does not fully answer both questions: most of the discussion explains work pressure as a cause, while the question asks what problems insufficient sleep causes. Effects on health, concentration, safety, or relationships are not explained, so a major part of the task is missing. The proposed solutions are also only briefly developed; for example, the government’s rules are mentioned without saying what they would require or how they would help. To strengthen the response, address the consequences directly and support each solution with a clear explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on work pressure and possible solutions, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the general direction of the argument. Some linking is effective, such as “Taking everything into consideration” to signal the conclusion. However, progression is weakened because the paragraph about causes does not answer the task’s question about consequences, and the final paragraph repeats the same solutions rather than drawing together a developed discussion. Connections within sentences are sometimes unclear, particularly “If employers divide the work between the employees and enough time…” Use clearer topic sentences for each part of the prompt and make the relationship between each proposed action and its expected result explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “work-overload,” “pressure,” “awareness programs,” and “work time-limits.” These choices show an attempt to discuss workplace stress and possible interventions. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “sevral,” “sollution,” “sifficulity,” and “relife form.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “reduce work martial” and “face challenges for getting good sleep.” Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose precise terms for the ideas you mean. For instance, “workload” is more natural than “work-overload,” while “reduce employees’ workload” clearly expresses the proposed action.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although this problem can have…” and a conditional beginning “If employers divide the work…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “there are number of solution” lacks an article and plural agreement, while “the pressure of the job create” has a subject–verb agreement error. The conditional sentence is incomplete because the “If” clause is not matched with a complete main clause. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement and articles when editing.
