Student answer (Band 6.5)

Although having an enough sleep is vital to stay active and energetic, many individuals, currently, complain that they are not getting an effective sleep. Admittedly, a lack of sleep can drain energy and limit productivity. However, it can be overcome by taking respective measures, such as doing physical activities and working for limited hours.

One main issue that less sleep causes is that it makes people less productive. This is largely because when they do not get required sleep, they more likely to feel drained. This further limit their energy and made them feel sleepy throughout the day. Additionally, they find it hard to concentrate or focus on their work. To illustrate, employees cannot finish allocated work promptly, when they do not receive sufficient sleep for several days. Consequently, this may not only reduce their decision making skill but also increase strees levels.

The paramount measure that can help to tackle this situation is that people should follow a healthy lifestyle. Given that they engage into exercise regularly, their fitness would inevitably improve. For example, workers should do physical activities and exercise on day-to-day basis, which may calm and relax their body to maintain energy and increase the possibility to get enough sleep. Moreover, they shoud work for their scheduled working hours only instead of working extended horurs, which may allow them appropriate time to sleep. Since working for limited hours, their strees level may decrease drastically, and they may get time for a good sleep.

In conclusion, even though insufficient sleeping can lead to several problems, such as strees and less energy, which makes people unproductive, I believe that following a healthy lifestyle and working required hours only may allow them sufficient time to get enough sleep.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question and maintain a clear overall position: insufficient sleep reduces productivity, while lifestyle changes and limiting work hours may help. The explanation that tired people struggle to concentrate is relevant, and the example of employees failing to complete work promptly supports the problem you identify. The response also gives two practical measures. However, the effects are developed more fully than the solutions: exercise is linked to relaxation and sleep, but the explanation is somewhat general, and the advice about working scheduled hours could be connected more explicitly to sleep routines. To strengthen the response, develop the consequences and remedies with more precise explanation or a specific example, rather than relying mainly on broad claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear four-paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to problems, solutions and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically within each paragraph, and linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “To illustrate,” and “Consequently” help show relationships. The conclusion also returns to the main points. Some connections are less smooth or precise: “This further limit their energy and made them feel sleepy” does not clearly maintain the same grammatical time frame, while “Since working for limited hours” is an awkward transition into the result. The repeated focus on energy and sleep also makes parts of the solution paragraph feel circular. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and ensure each supporting sentence adds a distinct step to the explanation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “productive,” “concentrate,” “decision making,” and “scheduled working hours,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are, however, noticeable spelling errors, including “strees,” “shoud,” and “horurs,” as well as several unnatural word combinations: “an effective sleep,” “respective measures,” and “engage into exercise.” These choices make the language less precise and natural, even when the intended meaning can be inferred. Aim to use familiar collocations accurately before reaching for less common expressions, and proofread carefully for spelling. More precise terms for sleep quality, stress, and exercise would help you express the ideas with greater control and flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses such as “when they do not get required sleep” and “Given that they engage into exercise regularly.” Most ideas remain clear, but some grammatical errors persist. For example, “This further limit” needs subject–verb agreement, and “made them feel sleepy” does not fit the present-tense explanation. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in phrases such as “the required sleep” and “Since working for limited hours, their stress level may decrease.” The final sentence is long and its “even though” clause is not smoothly connected to the main claim. Review agreement, tense consistency, articles, and clause structure while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
