Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies health and cognitive consequences, including heart disease, diabetes, tiredness, impaired decisions and driving accidents, then suggests reducing screen use, exercising, managing work, following a timetable, and practising yoga or meditation. These are relevant ideas and the reader can understand the main message. However, the effects of sleep loss are listed more than explained, and some proposed solutions—such as flexible work and housework—are not clearly connected to how they improve sleep. The conclusion repeats the recommendations rather than drawing the main points together. Develop a few key ideas with clearer cause-and-effect explanations and a specific example to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on problems, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “To mitigate” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, connections within sentences are sometimes unclear, as in “this interest cut amount of time this activities impact on body differently,” and the transition from screen use to physical effects is difficult to follow. Some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion begins abruptly with “In conclusion.sleep.” Use complete sentences to show how each point relates to the next, and make references such as “this” or “it” clearly identify the idea they refer to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cognitive behaviour,” “critical mistakes,” “screen time,” “meditation,” and “sleep deprivation.” This gives enough range to communicate the main ideas, but inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “enoght,” “diseaes,” “excelarete,” and “rution”; phrases such as “official work decision” and “come over from the unnecessary stress” are also unnatural. Aim for accurate, conventional collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help distinguish health effects from practical solutions and make the argument easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to use both simple and more complex structures, including the example introduced by “for example” and the sentence beginning “To mitigate this growing crisis.” However, sentence boundaries and basic grammatical patterns are not consistently controlled. For instance, “This is leads towards tired brain” combines incompatible verb forms, while “less sleep cause” has a subject–verb agreement error. The opening phrase “In today modern society” also lacks the correct possessive form and article. Several long sentences run ideas together, making relationships unclear. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check articles, agreement, verb forms, and punctuation.
