Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays not getting sufficient sleep is a major problem faced by the majority of people. This phenomenon raises problems related to health and daily routine. While implementing a work life strategy this issue can be resolved.
The biggest effect of sleeping less is people have to suffer with their poor health. The human brain shuts off and refreshes itself during sleeping which is important for the body to work effectively. Many health problems like high blood pressure, head ache, short memory and heart diseases are associated with brain cells which are affected by insufficient sleep.
Daily productivity is impected negatively by lack of sleep. Because people feel exhausted, irritated for the whole day and they find it difficult to spend time with family and concentrate on work. The same behavior of people for the long term can cause disputes between spouses, communication gaps with children and less efficient at work.
The problem of lack of sleep can be solved by an approach called work life balance. The increasingly inflation rate forces people to work for longer hours to pay their expenses and make extra money. By controlling unnecessary spending, they may have to work for limited hours that can fulfill their needs and life standards. They can manage their sleep schedule within their remaining hours and spend time with energy.
To conclude, the health of people is not only impected by lack of sleep, but it is also a reason for less productive life. So people should manage their personal and professional life and not overlook their sleep cycle to pursuit of profit.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies health effects, such as high blood pressure and heart disease, and impacts on productivity and family relationships, then proposes controlling spending and working fewer hours. The position is clear, especially in the conclusion’s call to protect sleep rather than pursue profit. These relevant points meet the task well, but some are less fully explained than others. For example, the health paragraph lists several conditions without showing how sleep loss may contribute to them, while the proposed work-life balance solution is developed mainly through reduced spending and shorter work hours. To strengthen the response, explain the effects with a specific example and add practical measures such as a regular bedtime or reducing screen use before sleep.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on health and daily-life effects, a solutions paragraph, and a conclusion. This makes the main progression easy to follow, and phrases such as “The biggest effect” and “To conclude” signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “While implementing a work life strategy this issue can be resolved” introduces the solution before the essay explains it, and “The same behavior” does not clearly identify which behaviour is meant. The health and productivity points are also presented largely as lists. Use more precise referencing and connect each claim to its explanation so the progression feels more continuous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate its main ideas, including “insufficient sleep,” “daily productivity,” “communication gaps,” and “work life balance.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “high blood pressure” and “heart diseases.” However, several inaccurate or unnatural choices limit precision: “impected” is misspelled, “short memory” is not the natural phrase, and “spend time with energy” does not express the intended meaning clearly. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “problem” and “people.” Aim for accurate collocations and more varied phrasing; for instance, describe people as feeling “irritable” and say that sleep loss “reduces concentration” or “impairs productivity.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the relative clause in “which is important for the body to work effectively” and the conditional structure “By controlling unnecessary spending, they may have to work for limited hours.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and awkward constructions are present. For example, “The biggest effect of sleeping less is people have to suffer” needs a clearer structure, such as “The biggest effect … is that people suffer.” In “The same behavior … can cause … and less efficient at work,” the final item does not fit grammatically with the preceding nouns. Review clause structure, parallel forms, and punctuation around sentence boundaries to improve control while retaining this range.
