Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies causes of insufficient sleep, including social-media use and work-related stress, and proposes individual and workplace measures. It also mentions consequences such as poor physical health and reduced concentration. These ideas are relevant, but the problems caused by sleep loss receive much less explanation than the causes and solutions. For example, the effects on health and concentration are listed without showing how they affect daily life or giving a specific example. Some points about social relationships and work routines are also broad or repetitive. To develop the response further, explain the consequences in more detail and support key claims with a concrete example, while keeping the focus on the question’s two requested areas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is an overall movement from causes to consequences and then solutions, and linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “Secondly,” and “By this” help signal relationships between ideas. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the main stages of the answer are not clearly separated. Some transitions are also awkward or do not express a clear contrast, and ideas sometimes run together—for instance, the discussion of social media, relationships, and bedtime shifts without clear boundaries. Repetition of “sleep,” “people,” and “work” also makes progression feel less controlled. Use separate paragraphs for causes, effects, and solutions, and connect each point with precise references and transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate its main points, including “social media,” “stress,” “concentration,” “flexible working hours,” and “work-life balance.” There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as being “attached towards phone.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision: “people life,” “more attached towards phone,” and “overcome with the problem” are not natural formulations. “A cause of not having proper sleep” is understandable but could be expressed more directly. Aim to use accurate collocations and vary repeated general words such as “problem” and “things”; this will make the argument clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “when,” and the main message is generally understandable. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences that combine several ideas. Examples include “youth is facing problem,” “one of the biggest reason,” and “These things can be manage,” where agreement, articles, or verb forms are inaccurate. Sentence boundaries and capitalization also need attention: “Also” follows a comma, while “when” and “people” begin sentences without capital letters. Some sentences would be clearer if divided into shorter units. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation, while retaining a mix of sentence structures.
