Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this fast- paced earth, many people suffer from sleeping disorders as they lack the good amount of sleep. In this essay, I will illustrate the problems why people lack sleep. I will also suggest some remedies to overcome this situation and improve the quality of sleep.

To begin with, many people face challenges to get sufficient sleep is due to social and economic factors. Primarily, students are always in stress to performing better in academic grades and sports. Parents want their children to excel in every field which puts them in anxiety and stress. The students are always in pressure to perform betther. This situation, impacts on physcological and overthinking behaviour of child. Therefore, students can not get enough deep sleep due to surrounding pressure from elders and competition among other children.

The another point is the bread winner of the family is always in pressure to improve their family standards by giving financial support. They are always in rush to provide good level of education, better medical facilities and nutritious food for their family. Moreover the people may face challenges to perform better in offices to gain promotion. Sometimes, the worload in corporate offices are too much to handle for a small team. Although, they have to deal with this situation to aide their families. Hence, people need to earn more money so they can have less stressful life and improve their quality of sleep.

The solutions are simple to achieve the goal of good sleep. Firstly, a person has to change their lifestyle by doing exercises and breathing techniques. Studies have proved that by doing yoga can improve the sleep quality. Secondly, preparing a plan for accomplishing the workload can lead to stress free life. The can make small goals to each task and complete it. They would not feel tension after completing the task. This will improve the sleep quality as they do not have to worry about the work.

In conclusion, good sleep can be achieved by staying healthy lifestyle. They have to forget all the problems before going to bed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question by discussing pressures that may reduce sleep and suggesting exercise, breathing techniques, and workload planning. The examples about students facing academic expectations and adults managing financial and workplace demands are relevant. However, the task asks specifically what problems lack of sleep can cause, and this part is not clearly answered: the essay mainly explains why people struggle to sleep rather than describing consequences such as reduced concentration, poor health, or impaired performance. Some proposed remedies are also asserted rather than explained; for example, “forget all the problems before going to bed” is not a practical, developed recommendation. Make the effects of sleep deprivation explicit and support each solution with a clear explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, paragraphs about pressures, a solutions paragraph, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, the two middle paragraphs both focus on causes of insufficient sleep, so the progression does not fully match the question’s two requested parts. Some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly “Hence,” which introduces a claim about earning more money without showing how this resolves the pressure described. The reference “The can make small goals” is also unclear. Organise the body around consequences and remedies, and use linking expressions to show precise relationships between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “financial support,” “promotion,” “breathing techniques,” and “workload,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “overcome this situation.” However, the range is uneven, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “fast-paced earth,” “in stress,” “in rush,” and “good level of education” do not sound natural in context. Spelling errors such as “betther,” “physcological,” and “worload” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; precise vocabulary for the effects of sleep deprivation would also help answer the task more fully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “Although” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, control is inconsistent, especially in longer sentences. For example, “many people face challenges to get sufficient sleep is due to…” combines incompatible sentence structures, while “The can make small goals” has an incomplete subject. Other errors include “students are always in stress to performing” and “the worload … are too much,” involving verb patterns and agreement. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “This situation, impacts…” Practise building one clear main clause before adding subordinate information, and check agreement, verb forms, and punctuation during revision.
