Student answer (Band 6.0)

People struggling with sleep is commonly seen these days. Lack of sleep have multiple negative affects on physical and mental health such as stress and bad posture. However, well planned sleep routines and healthy diet can help to get rid of this problem eventually.

Firstly people struglling with a sound sleep can suffer from many diseases like stress and impulsive behaviour along with bad body ache .It has been witnessed that, lack of continuous sleep reduce the considerable amount of tissue growth, which can only be possible during sleep. Furthermore, many people can feel harsh pain in their body and can leads to severe health issues like cervical and irregulat posture which can become a serious problem in the end.

The problem of lack of sleep can be preserved by regular exercising and good sleep cycle. For instance, when we work out in the day, it makes our body tired in a healthy way and that helps us to sleep better in the night. Another factor which can be followed to have a sweet sleep is regular sleep cycles. To illustate, we can motivate people to follow the exercise of twenty one days because a human body gets habitual of something in that amount of time. One person can fix their sleep cycle from 8 to 6 and stick to it for 21 days and he will observe that after some days he will start getting sleep around 8 because his body will feel the need of sleep during that time and it will become habit after a period of time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify possible effects, including stress, impulsive behaviour and physical discomfort, and suggest exercise and a regular sleep schedule. The practical example of keeping a consistent bedtime helps make the proposed solution more concrete. However, the effects are not always clearly explained: the link between poor sleep and “bad posture” or “cervical” problems is asserted rather than supported, and the discussion of tissue growth is difficult to follow. The solutions are more developed than the problems, while other relevant consequences, such as reduced concentration or poorer performance at work, could have been explained. Clarifying the health claims and extending the less-developed points would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on problems and a paragraph on solutions. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore” and “For instance” help readers follow the main stages, and the example about maintaining a sleep schedule supports the solution paragraph. This already gives the essay a coherent progression. Some connections, however, feel mechanical, and the long final example contains several ideas in one sentence, making the explanation harder to track. The opening also previews solutions without clearly signalling that the essay will discuss both causes and remedies. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and divide the final example into shorter steps to improve flow and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “impulsive behaviour,” “tissue growth,” “sleep cycle” and “habitual.” These choices show an effort to express specific ideas rather than relying only on basic words. However, several inaccurate or unnatural choices reduce precision: “bad posture” is not clearly connected to the sleep problem, “harsh pain” is an awkward collocation, and “preserved” does not mean that the problem can be solved. Spelling errors such as “struglling,” “irregulat” and “illustate” also affect the overall control of vocabulary. Choose more natural health-related collocations and check spelling carefully; this will help your meaning come across more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which can only be possible during sleep” and conditional phrasing in the exercise example. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Lack of sleep have” needs subject–verb agreement, and “lack of continuous sleep reduce” has the same issue. In “can leads,” the verb form after the modal should be corrected, while the final sentence shifts between “one person” and “he,” making the reference less consistent. Punctuation is also uneven, particularly around sentence boundaries. Review agreement, verb forms after modal verbs, and sentence punctuation while retaining your attempts at longer structures.
