Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies possible effects of poor sleep, including irritability, health problems, relationship difficulties and reduced work performance, then suggests exercise and reducing caffeine. These are relevant ideas, and the example about someone changing her caffeine habits attempts to support the proposed solution. However, some points are asserted rather than clearly explained: the link between exercise and improved sleep is not made explicit, and the suggested drinks are not convincingly connected to better sleep. The discussion of consequences is also broader than it is developed. To strengthen the response, explain how each problem affects daily life and give practical, well-supported measures, such as keeping a regular sleep schedule or limiting screen use before bed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure, moving from an introduction to consequences, solutions and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First and foremost” and “Secondly” help signal the two recommendations. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and several sentences are fragments beginning with “Which,” for example, “Which can affect the relations and productivity at work.” This interrupts the flow and makes the links between ideas less clear. The paragraph on caffeine also shifts from drinks to an individual example without a smooth transition, while the conclusion repeats the essay’s purpose rather than drawing the main points together. Use complete sentences, connect cause and effect explicitly, and organise each body paragraph around one clearly developed main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “insufficient sleep,” “productivity,” “caffeine” and “well-being,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “complain about their adequate sleep,” “resolution of this problem,” and “respond on the tiredness.” Some expressions are imprecise, including “healthy dietary drinks” and “caffeine drinks,” and “mediation” appears to be a spelling error for “meditation.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Aim for natural collocations and check word forms and spelling; for example, say “complain about not getting enough sleep” and “solutions to this problem.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

There is an attempt to use both simple and more complex structures, including conditional phrasing and clauses introduced by “if” and “because.” However, sentence boundaries and agreement are not consistently controlled. For example, “Which can affect the relations and productivity at work” is a fragment, and “He/She are not in their consciousness of their action” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. The opening also has an incomplete construction in “This essay will discuss about the problems … cause.” Punctuation is sometimes used in place of sentence structure, particularly where full stops precede “Which.” Improve accuracy by making each sentence complete, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and using clauses to show relationships between ideas rather than separating them into fragments.
