Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify physical and mental effects of insufficient sleep, and suggest routines, reduced screen use, exercise, less evening caffeine, and reasonable working hours. The examples about students’ exam performance and tired drivers make the effects relevant. However, some points are listed rather than explained—for example, the link between poor sleep and road accidents could be developed, and the proposed solutions could be connected more clearly to the problems. The conclusion is also incomplete, ending with “daily exe,” so it does not fully summarise your answer. The response is 24 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your ideas. Add a complete conclusion and extend one or two examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on problems, a paragraph on solutions, and an attempted conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “However,” and “In addition” help readers follow the main stages, and the ideas generally progress logically. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. To improve further, make the links between sentences more natural and avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions. For example, “As well as” does not connect smoothly to the preceding point, and the final sentence is cut off, disrupting the ending. Use clearer referencing and complete each paragraph’s final idea before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “sleep deprivation,” “mental health,” “mood swings,” “electronic devices,” and “caffeine.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause, as in “peolpe,” “depribvation,” “indivisible” (apparently intended to mean “individuals’”), and “schulde.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “sleeping schedule” expressed as “sleeping schulde” and “road accident threat.” The range is therefore limited in accuracy and flexibility. Proofread spelling carefully, learn common collocations, and choose precise forms such as “concentration” rather than “concentrate” when a noun is needed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “Because of this…” and “leading stress, anxiety and mood swings.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “insufficient sleep negatively affected on mental health” has an incorrect verb pattern and tense, while “doing some regular exercise and avoid caffeine … help” has problems with parallel structure and subject–verb agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “student who do not sleep properly” and the run-together punctuation around “examination. As well as.” The unfinished final sentence further weakens accuracy. Practise complete sentence patterns, agreement, and punctuation, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
