Student answer (Band 6.0)

Well, people have a plethora of health problems because of globalization. Sleeping issues is one of them. There are numerous reasons for lack of sleep cause. I will discuss the reasons for this cause and provide some reasonable solutions of it.

To begin with, fast-paced lifestyle is one of the main resons for having difficulties getting enough sleep. To elaborate, to achieve everything in life, people are working longer hours. Even unrealistic deadlines of projects and expectations from employers ruin employee's mental health. As a result, stress level is increases and sleep cycle disturbs. Not only employees are affected but also children are affected from this as kids have a burden of studies. In past, students do not have competition but nowadays they have to become good at everything including studies as well as extra curriculam activities. This led to insufficient sleep.

What is more, mobile phones play a major role for lack of sleep. To elobrate, everyone regardless of age wants to spend an hour before bedtime on phones. the radiation of cellular device harms our body. Furthermore, social media such as Instagram, Tiktok can disturb our sleep. Manytimes, our subconcious mind has some thought which would ruin our sleep.

To solve this issue, many steps could be taken. Firstly, meditation works best to get rid of problem having enough sleep. Secondly, employers have to set realistic targets and there should be a coverage for employee to acess mental therapy sessiions. Last but not least, usage of mobile phones must be restricted.

To conclude, having not enough sleep is a big issue but sotions could work if people follow it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions by identifying possible consequences of insufficient sleep and suggesting remedies, including stress, disrupted sleep, meditation, realistic work targets and limiting phone use. However, the response only partially develops the task: much of the body explains why people sleep poorly, while the question asks what problems lack of sleep causes. The effects on health, concentration, mood or daily functioning are not clearly explained; for example, “stress level is increases” describes a cause or related condition rather than a specific consequence of sleep loss. The solutions are also listed briefly without explaining how they would help. To strengthen the response, make the effects explicit and support each main solution with a short explanation or relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, paragraphs on work and phones, a solutions paragraph, and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “What is more,” and “Firstly” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some movement towards more controlled progression. However, the links between ideas are sometimes mechanical, and the paragraph about phones shifts from screen use to radiation and then to subconscious thoughts without clearly showing how each point connects to sleep loss. The introduction also promises to discuss “reasons,” although the task asks about problems caused by lack of sleep. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and ensure each paragraph develops one task-focused point.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including “fast-paced lifestyle,” “unrealistic deadlines,” “mental health,” “sleep cycle,” and “realistic targets.” These choices make the general meaning understandable, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word-choice and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “reasons for lack of sleep cause,” “coverage for employee,” and “get rid of problem having enough sleep.” Spelling errors, including “resons,” “elobrate,” “subconcious,” and “sotions,” also weaken control. Aim for natural, accurate combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary for consequences—such as impaired concentration or irritability—would also help you answer the task directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as,” “but,” and “as a result,” and most ideas remain understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “stress level is increases” should be “stress levels increase,” and “sleep cycle disturbs” needs a passive form such as “the sleep cycle is disrupted.” In “Not only employees are affected but also children are affected,” the correlative structure is awkward and repetitive; “Both employees and children are affected” is clearer. There are also punctuation and capitalisation slips, such as beginning “the radiation” with a lowercase letter. Review these patterns and proofread each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
