Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, lack of sleep has became a major concern in many parts of the world. This situation has created several challenges for individuals and society. However, these problems can be addressed through effective measures taken by personal care and proper timetable.

To begin with, one of the major problem associated with insufficient sleep is busy life style. This is mainly because each and every person have responsibility of life and work. For example, one employee have a busy schedule with hard goals as well as family resposibilty such as children and spend time with them. As a result, it creates stressful situation and affects mental health. In addition, some bad habits such as scrolling phones, too much watch time and overnight gaming can lead this issue.

Nevertheless, several effective measures can be taken to address these problems. Firstly, people should make proper timetable or schedule to maintain daily activity or tasks. For instance, people can use some digital apps which can assist by providing reminder and notification. Moreover, avoid excessive use of smartphone and laptop and start spend time with family and friend and also discuss future plans and daily experiences. Consequently, you can reduce your stress and get enough sleep.

In conclusion, although sleep problems can lead serious problems, such as stress and bad habits which can affect your lifestyle, I believe that these challenges addressed through proper planning, guidance of family and useful health conscious apps with strong determination of mind for your mental well- being.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies consequences such as stress and effects on mental health, and suggests planning, reducing screen use, and seeking family support. The position that the problem can be managed through practical measures is clear. These relevant ideas support the response at this level, but some are not fully explained. For example, the discussion of a busy employee lists work and family responsibilities without clearly showing how sleep loss itself affects daily functioning; the paragraph also shifts to habits that cause sleep problems. Develop the consequences more directly, perhaps explaining effects on concentration, health, or work performance, and show how each proposed measure improves sleep.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes and effects, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “Nevertheless” help readers follow the main stages, and examples are placed alongside relevant points. This coherent organisation meets the lower-band expectations and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, the first body paragraph combines causes and consequences without a clear distinction, and the connection between “busy life style” and the stated problem is not always explicit. The conclusion also compresses several ideas into one sentence. Group effects separately from causes and solutions, and use clearer references to connect each explanation to the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate its main points, including “insufficient sleep,” “responsibility,” “mental health,” “excessive use,” and “reminder and notification.” There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as “family responsibilities” and “daily experiences.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making phrases awkward: “busy life style,” “too much watch time,” and “strong determination of mind” are examples. Spelling errors such as “resposibilty” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of sleep-related expressions and check collocations and spelling; this will make the ideas clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is an attempt to use both simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “because,” “as a result,” and “which.” Most of the intended meaning remains understandable, and the response has a recognisable sentence structure throughout. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. Examples include “has became,” “each and every person have,” and “one employee have”; the final sentence also lacks a clear main-clause structure. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and revise long sentences to ensure each has a complete, clearly connected clause. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range already attempted.
