Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both parts of the question by naming possible consequences, including stress, diabetes and depression, and suggesting changes to work habits and diet. However, the response only partially develops the task: the causes of insufficient sleep take up space, while the effects are mostly listed rather than explained, and the proposed remedies do not clearly show how they improve sleep. The conclusion introduces weakness and exercise without developing either point. Your position is present but broad, and the response is 47 words below the required minimum, which limits the opportunity to explain and support your ideas. Develop two or three relevant effects and practical solutions, explaining each with a clear reason or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph about causes and effects, a paragraph of recommendations, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Consequently,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of your argument, and the main ideas are generally easy to follow. This coherent structure meets the lower-band expectations and shows some control of progression. To make the organisation more effective, ensure each paragraph answers the question directly: separate the effects of sleep loss from its causes, then connect each proposed solution to a specific problem. Some transitions feel mechanical, and the final paragraph repeats the introduction rather than drawing together the developed points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “hectic schedule,” “financial demands,” “diabetes,” and “depression,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “insuffucient,” “curtain reasons,” “nutritive,” and “mitigate with.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “manage their work are” and “stress free life.” These inaccuracies fit a limited but minimally adequate range: meaning is usually recoverable, but precision and natural collocation are inconsistent. Learn common combinations such as “lack of sleep can lead to” and “reduce working hours,” and proofread spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, for example, the opening sentence uses a reason clause and a relative clause, while “They should add green vegetables and fruits … so that their bodies stay…” expresses purpose. However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “people who are struggling with this ought to manage their sleep and maintain day activities,” where the relationship between the ideas is unclear, and “they will have to struggle with these chronic disease rest of their lives,” which has problems with number and article use. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation also need attention, as in “health problems. for example”. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns before adding complex clauses.
